The Season for Giving

‘Tis the season for giving and this year the Lobster Fishers of PEI Marketing Board were honored to give a Christmas donation to the PEI Council of People with DisabilitiesLobster PEI Board Director Malcolm Ferguson presented Marcia Carroll with a cheque to assist Island families this holiday season.

#DYK there are 30K Islanders living with disabilities, 10K of those being children?

PEICOD offers many programs to support Islanders whether it be through tutoring, employment services, community access programs, parking permits, housing and so much more! They do wonderful work and we applaud them for their efforts.

Do You Know Lobster?

A freshly laid lobster egg is the size of the head of a pin (1/16").

True – Lobster Eggs Are Tiny

Lobster eggs are indeed about the size of the head of a pin. A female lobster carries about 8000 eggs inside for 9-12 months, then another 9-12 months under her tail. Fishers have to return lobsters to the water that have visible eggs under their tail as part of fishery conservation methods. And from every 50,000 eggs, only two lobsters are expected to survive to legal size.
